Course Overview
The purpose of the Palm Beach Code School is to teach students the skills and techniques needed to be qualified for entry-level work in the Web and Mobile Application Design and Development Field. The educational objective is to teach students how to design and program their own websites and mobile application. The Palm Beach Code School teaches this new cutting edge technology utilizing a “hands-on learning, learn by doing” approach.
The educational objective and purpose of the Mobile Developer 101 program is to teach theory and hands-on techniques to design and create interactive mobile applications. It’s a project-based curriculum in which students design and build a functional iOS or Android mobile application.
Who Should Take This Course?
Those who have either taken our Web Developer 101 Program or another basic 101 Web Developer program and wants to gain experience and knowledge about the programming languages being used in the Mobile App industry so they can design their own apps and become a Mobile Developer.
Curriculum
What I’ll Learn
Design
Students are taught to design the look, feel and functionality of a mobile application for both iOS and Android devices. They will develop their understanding of the basic design strategies and techniques. Topics include: wireframing, personas, storyboarding, prototyping, user testing and interface guidelines.
Programming
Students will learn basic front end and back end programming, problem solving and critical thinking skills to design functional mobile applications. The class provides theoretical and practical knowledge to design and build iOS and Android based solutions. Programming languages include: Objective-C, Java, jQuery, jQuery Mobile and HTML
Database
In this course, students further their understanding of the marketing and business side of mobile application development for iOS and Android devices. Students are taught how to create and interact with an SQL database using Structured Query Language.
Career Development
This course covers important topics such as resume writing, interviewing skills, networking techniques and preparation of a Capstone project. The purpose of the Capstone project is to demonstrate the students’ ability to design and program a mobile app. Students will learn how to best market themselves to potential employers.
